Weather & HR
During this session I applyed my heart rate management. By Trying to not start hit a ball with my heart rate above 110 bpm.
But it was so F***ing cold outside (2°C / 35°F). That having to wait 2 min between shots for my heart rate to slow down was very complicate.

As you can see at some point I just went for it as soon as I was in my golf course range of 110-120 bpm. And at the end I just finish quickly my bucket of balls by hitting a few wedges in a row. And just that was enough to get a consistent 130-140 bpm.
Training Plan
For this session, I wanted to applyed a few things I come to understand in the downswing about the relationships of hips rotation and shoulder rotation.
And basicaly, I understood that the hip rotating, help stablise the shoulder. It’s though to explain and I am going to make a dedicate post on that.
But the basic Idea is if you wish to hit more on the draw side, you neew to use your core muscle to increase the seperation between the shoulder and the hips, which as a resultyou are force to rotate way more your hips to reach impact, but that also means your will have a pretty neutral upper body.
On the opposite if you activate the core muscle in order to reduce the seperation between your shoulders and hips, you will promote a path exterior-interior, which perfect to make a fade.
The technique I am building is more on the draw side than the fade side. But I think my natural tendency is to activate the core to reduce the seperation rather than increasing it.
So I went on the practice range to test that and realy try to rotate my shoulders as far right as possible as I am rotating my hips as far left as possible.
Session
- Setup
First of all about the setup, something I notice, that I might need to pay more attention in the future: my GRIP.

I already know that my right hand is a bit weak, but that’s not a big deal for what I want to accomplish. Especialy as long as my left hand is still neutral or just a bit strong.
But as you can see, I am not sure, but it seems to me that my left hand is weaker than usual.
So two things, I need to compare to previous video to see if’s it’s actualy the case. Then start paying more attention about it in the future.
- Backswing

My club at this point should be almost completely set. But it’s not. I know the reasons, my hips hasn’t still moved back to the center, or even past the center.
Because, at this point my weight shift to the left (my left) shoulde already have began, which will help setting the club.
This is an issue I had for a while now, But that might be worth doing few session working only on that. I want my back and left leg to draw a perfect dead straight line or even a reverse C, but clearly not a C like that.
- Downswing

Finaly we talk about the purpose of this session.
Two things:
- It went well good sensation, and when I execute it well the balls did goes dead straight, and also it’s seems to me that it create a lot more power
- I think as long as I am not getting my backswing like I wish it’s going to be difficult to to better than that on my downswing
- Release:
Initialy I didn’t wanted to mention it. But I think it bother me enough.

This one was on my last driver swing, which in the moment I thought was a perfect swing. The club did come perfectly from the inside, smash the ball completely dead straight. Perfect right…
But what bothers me is my legs work after impact. I mention it, because it’s not the first time I notice it, but before I had big stuffs to focus on. And probably if my subconsicous mind stopped on it today, to the point where I need to talk about it here, may be there is something important here.
I don’t have the answer. You may think, that’s easy just push harder on your legs and that’s hit. But if golf were that easy, I whouldn’t be interested in it.
In the golf swing, every action produce a reaction, and here we are after impact. It mean 2 things, Either I the whole sequence I am doing something wrong that cause my unability to fully extend at impact. Or you are right I am just missing an important move in the impact area with my lower body.
I don’t want to rush in any assumption too quickly here. I need to assess both side of the equation.
Also there might be a 3rd option. I had years ago a knee surgery on my left knee. And may be this is an old habit I have subconsciously develop in my swing to protect my knee.
I don’t know for now, but clearly I will think about it deeply.
Conclusion
Good session, learn a few things dispite the temperature. So I am going to process that, experiment things at home, and establish my next plan for the next session.
